Film Series for Adults

Monday, July 25, 2022 (2:00 PM - 4:00 PM) (CDT)

Description

Our film series for adults is back on Monday, July 25 at 2:00 p.m. in the Marshalltown Public Library’s community meeting rooms.
Our movie license forbids the use of film titles in publicity; therefore, we invite you to play the movie guessing game!
This film is a 1963 American epic adventure suspense war film starring Steve McQueen, James Garner and Richard Attenborough. The film is based on Paul Brickhill's 1950 non-fiction book of the same name, a firsthand account of the mass escape by British Commonwealth prisoners of war from German POW camp Stalag Luft III in Sagan (now Żagań, Poland), in the Nazi Germany province of Lower Silesia. The film depicts a heavily fictionalized version of the escape, with numerous compromises for its commercial appeal, such as focusing more on American involvement in the escape.
Join our film critic, Tom LaVille, for a great discussion after the movie, as well as free popcorn and lemonade. This event is free and open to the public, aged 18 and over. For more information, or for the title of the film, please call the library's Information Desk at 641-754-5738 ext. 4.
This event is sponsored by Friends of the Marshalltown Public Library.
