Description

The late Laurence Jones was the first African-American to graduate from Marshalltown HIgh School. Marshalltown attorney and mayor Joel Greer will describe Jones' academic achievements and the challenges he encountered when attempting to open a school for African-Americans in the early 1900s in rural Mississippi. The program kicks-off HSMCs 2025 monthly "History on Second Tuesday" events. 

Pricing

Free-of-charge and open to the public. A free will offering is encouraged. The HSMC is a IRS certified 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.
