Holiday Stroll- Downtown Marshalltown- CANCELLED

Saturday, November 21, 2020 (4:00 PM - 8:00 PM) (CST)

Description

NOTE: The HOLIDAY STROLL HAS BEEN CANCELLED for 2020.

Join us Downtown Saturday, November 21st for the Marshalltown Holiday Stroll hosted by the Marshalltown Central
A Reverse Parade will stretch from 3rd Avenue to 3rd Street along Main Street.
With the newest Governor proclamation and the increase of COVID cases, we sat down and consulted with members of our board of directors and the promotions committee on how to proceed with the Holiday Stroll. After much discussion we have decided to continue with the planned event for Saturday November 21st.
However, we are altering certain aspects of the event to comply with the Governor's November 10, 2020 proclamation by requiring those individuals in attendance aged 2 or older to wear face masks while attending the Holiday Stroll.
To further help keep those who would like to attend as safe as possible we will be eliminating the following events: Christmas Craft Village, Live Action Performances, Lighting Display and the MCBD Kid's Ornament Kits. In addition the Festival of Trees will now be a Tree Festival Window Display located at 26 E Main Street.
If you plan on seeing Santa and Mrs Claus on display in the interactive windows social distancing and masks are required per the Governor's proclamation. There will be a one way in one way out line that will wind around the windows with markers to keep everyone 6 feet apart.
This year because of the special circumstances we had already planned for the majority of the Holiday Stroll to be enjoyed from the safety of your vehicle by driving up and down Main and State Streets between 3rd Ave and 3rd St (don't forget the side streets) as many of our downtown businesses will have their storefronts decorated for the season. The community will be able to listen to Christmas music on KDAO 99.5 FM in their cars from 4-8 pm during the Stroll, plus there will be “live” updates from downtown. We also welcome you to visit the newly added Art Installation at 123 E Main St, the Interactive Mural located on the side of 17 N 1st St, and a Crush 2020 Display at the corner of State St and 2nd Ave.
We have updated the event map and poster to reflect the changes. They are both available here or for download on our website as well https://www.marshalltownmainstreet.org/
There are several downtown businesses both on and off of Main/State Streets that will be open during the Holiday Stroll if you wish to show them support that night and shop local. If visiting these establishments we ask that you abide by each business's safety practices.
The decision to continue with our event was not taken lightly and we would like to express our gratitude to our sponsors, downtown businesses, volunteers, and attendees for their understanding, patience, and continued support. The MCBD will continue to work hard to support our downtown businesses and strive to provide a safe, warm and welcoming venue for nurturing commerce, greater fellowship, continuous learning, and social harmony.
