SUMMARY:Letter Carriers' Food Drive
DESCRIPTION:Letter Carrier's will once again hold their Food Drive "Stamp Out Hunger" on Saturday\, May 9. Your letter carrier will be collecting non-perishable food donations left by mailboxes and a drop box in the post office for the local food pantries of the Salvation Army and the Emergency Food Box. This effort by members of the National Association of Letter Carriers and other volunteers is the largest one-day food drive in the nation.Grocery and gas prices are rising\, and many in our community are experiencing real hardship. Coming as it does in May\, helps our pantries to restock tor the summer months. For those able to help with even just a couple items will be appreciated. Please help our local pantries by placing your "non-perishable" food items next to your mailbox or mail slot before your letter carrier delivers your mail on Saturday\, May 9th. (Please check the dates on donated food items to be sure they have not yet expired. Be sure boxed/bagged items are sealed and cans have not been damaged. We also ask you to avoid glass jars.) If you have any questions regarding this year's drive\, you may call the Post Office or either of the food pantries. In past years\, over 10\,000 pounds of food was collected in the Marshalltown area. All donated food will be given to families of Marshall County and truly appreciated by the recipients. Help make this 2026 Food Drive even better by your participation in this very special project.
