Job Title: Human Resources and Payroll Coordinator

Brief Job Description/Summary: The purpose of this position is to coordinate all daily Human Resources and Payroll operations in recruiting, benefits, processing of new employees; including orientation, training, and compensation; and ensuring accurate and timely semimonthly payroll processes. This position assists in providing a wide range of HR support and advice, and provides back up to critical human resources and payroll functions. The coordinator position also has the crucial task of complying with all local, state and federal regulations for HR and payroll. This position will play a key role in the success of the organization by offering guidance on recruitment, benefits, employee relations, and best practices while facilitating a positive relationship between personnel and leadership.

List of Job Duties: Ability to communicate with employees, students, staff and/or the public with proficiency in English, grammar, punctuation and spelling. Skills in computer software programs, intermediate level in Word, Excel and other software products. Ability to handle highly confidential matters and materials with discretion. Ability to work independently as well as on a team, in completing assigned tasks and meeting deadlines. Skills in organization, time management, relationship building and communication. Knowledge of computer hardware, software and business equipment. Skills in critical thinking. Ability to multitask. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate through various methods (email, letter, memo, verbal, etc.) Knowledge of IRS regulations and State and Federal laws that pertain to employment, HR and Payroll procedures. Familiarity with GAAP and accounting regulations. Knowledge of best practices for Payroll and HR.

Required Experience and/or Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Completion of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 5 years of relevant HR and Payroll related job experience required. Master’s degree preferred. SHRM (Society for Human Resources Management) certification and/or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) designation from the American Payroll Association preferred.
