Evaluates Needs for Volunteer Services within the Organization in Collaboration with a Requesting Department
Develops goals and objectives for the Volunteer Services Department and monitors progress towards their achievement.
Develops Volunteer Services Department manual containing policies and procedures and reviews the material periodically in order to make necessary revision on a timely basis.
Develops written assignment descriptions and procedures for volunteer guidance and coordination of volunteer services.
Establishes and maintains good relationships with professional peers and participates in relevant continuing education programs to enhance professional growth.
Keeps informed about current state and federal laws that apply to the organization and volunteer service.
Coordinates the activities of the Volunteer Services Assistant to support day-to-day priorities of Volunteer Services Program goals and objectives.
Manages program to budget and collaborates with organization on budgeting process as needed.
Develops positive, FOCUS-values based relationships with all volunteers.
Leads recruitment, interviewing, selection and placement of volunteers to meet the organization’s needs.
Develops and supervises volunteer orientation, training and performance evaluation to ensure consistent, high quality service.
Oversees monthly schedules and documentation of expected volunteer coverage for each position. Scheduling calendars are mailed to all volunteer positions monthly as well as a monthly newsletter.
Develops appropriate recognition, retention, and motivation for volunteers including annual recognition event
Plans and schedules volunteer service placements and changes assignments when appropriate.
Maintains volunteer personnel records including individual volunteer files, health records, time reporting
Serves as organizational liaison to volunteer Spiritual Care Providers
Ensures that Spiritual Care Provider program is operated consistently with UnityPoint Health policies and practices especially as related to non-discrimination regarding faith backgrounds
Ensures that Spiritual Care Providers undergo UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown Volunteer Services and Spiritual Care Provider training
Supports Spiritual Care Providers in recruitment and retention of volunteers
Ensures good communication with the President of the Auxiliary and board including meet regularly and working cooperatively on projects and events.
Supports annual membership drive.
Supports projects and attends all meetings as a liaison to the hospital.
Assists with fundraising events including coordinating Book Fairs and Scrub Sales.
Works with SHIIP Chair to work on ways to enhance the program.
Coordinates the arrangements for the Medicare Part D enrollment each fall.
Arranges interviews with SHIIP office in Des Moines,
Meets with SHIIP chair to determine scheduling, supplies, publicity, and extra volunteers that assist with Medicare enrollments.
