The “Creative Retirement” group, sponsored by Iowa Valley Business and Community Solutions, will host an Open House Friday, August 4 at 9:30 a.m. in room 608 at the Iowa Valley Conference Center on the Iowa Valley (Marshalltown Community College) campus. Everyone is welcome to come! You will learn about the benefits of joining, listen to an invited speaker, and visit with current members.

Creative Retirement began in 1997 as a program of seniors, by seniors, and for seniors, to enhance life through learning opportunities and other activities, whether retired or not. The program is sponsored by Iowa Valley Business and Community Solutions (BCS).

The program has two primary focuses: Roundtable and Great Decisions. Roundtable discussions led by members or invited speakers are scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. every other Friday throughout the year. Programs explore current and historical events and topics about local and state events, businesses, organizations, and hobbies. No topic is out-of-bounds – all ideas are welcome.

Great Decisions presents the opportunity to discuss world current issues and meets on alternate Friday mornings beginning February of each year. This program is organized by the Foreign Policy Association and features impartial, thought-provoking analyses of eight issues of concern to policymakers and citizens.
