The Historical Society of Marshall County is pleased to sponsor author and historian Scott Foens, a Marion, Iowa native. He will discuss findings from his book "Green Mountain - Iowa's Deadliest Train Wreck." The 1910 tragedy resulted in 52 casualties and 40 seriously injured. A collision between two trains four miles northeast of Green Mountain made it the deadliest accident in Iowa railroad history.
The event is free-of-charge and open to the public. Reservations not necessary, but seating is limited. Foens' book will be available for purchase. Refreshments will be served following the program.
