Description
If you want to learn woodworking for fun (or or profit), but don’t know where to start, check out this class! Under the guidance of your instructor, Jake Bennett, Construction Technology faculty at MCC, you’ll find this an excellent way to learn carpentry fundamentals, such as using tools safely and effectively and selecting the right wood and finishing techniques without investing in expensive tools or supplies. So, how does wood become something beautiful and useful? Join this introductory class and find out! In this class we show you the function and safe use of the most common tools for woodworking like table saw, bandsaw, jointer, planer, and drill press. You will make some predetermined beautiful hardwood projects: cutting board, picture frame, and floating shelf. We will cover how to select material, orient grain for a pleasing aesthetic, mill wood, and choose a proper finish. This is an excellent introductory class for anyone considering getting into woodworking and/or carpentry. Up to $50 in materials and supplies are included in the cost of this class. Class participants will help determine projects for future classes.
Register by noon March 19th, $299. Limited to the first 10 registrations.
