A Reminder about the Iowa British Car Club September Driving Event (see attached maps). See below for names of those who have responded they are attending. 

Rescheduled from the too hot July event!

Saturday, September 14, 2024 including a British car show at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.

The VA staff will need us to help escort some of the residents back and forth from their rooms to the parking lot.

If you previously responded to the July drive, we are starting a new list.

Since the club has not driven to the Marshalltown area in recent memory or ever, Randy Cumpton (515-313-5654) and Lee and Cathy Webb (515-460-0039) are hosting a Saturday, September 14, club drive to Marshalltown.

We have 2 departure points. 1. Pizza Ranch off E 13th and Dayton Ave (1404 Boston Ave.), Ames. traveling on E29 - Lee and Cathy 2. Bob Brown Buick in Ankeny (1405 SE Oralabor Rd,) Randy, traveling to 330 to Hy 30. Others will meet us in Marshalltown.

Leaving at 10:30 am from the Departure points, we will meet around the Court House in downtown Marshalltown (1 E. Main) around 11:30 to explore and to eat lunch.

We will arrive at the IA VA Home (1301 Summit St, Marshalltown) around 1 pm to set up for a 2 hour car show starting at 1:30.

We will enter on Liberty Lane going up to Memorial Drive to the Laundry parking area across from VA courtyard.  If you can’t do the whole drive you can meet us at the VA home or leave earlier if needed.

There are several places downtown that we can eat near the square. Here are some.

Ocean City Chinese is open at 11 (5 W. Main)

Taylor’s Maid-Rite is the first Maid-Rite is open at 10 (106 S. 3rd Ave)

Chef King opens at 11 (29 W. Main) cash only?

Adelina’s Grill and Mexican opens at 11 (101 N. Center St)

There is an ice cream place called La Michoacana Xtra at 118 W. Main St. which opens at 1 pm. It is a new business that is said to have great ice cream and would be a good place to stop after the car show.

The Flying Elbow open at 11, (Near VA 229 N. 13th St.)
