Description

City to Hold Spring Clean-Up Event on May 15th 5.21 Cleanup Flyer Saturday, May 15th, from 8 am to 11:30 am, Marshalltown residents can drop off large items at a dumpster site free of charge. The site is located at 1106 Marion Street or the JBS parking lot on the north side of Marion Street. Stone Sanitation will be partnering with the City again this year. But not everything will be accepted on the 15th. Regular trash/garbage, tires, asbestos-containing materials, propane cylinders, electronics such as TVs and computers, and appliances are just a few of the items which will not be accepted. Tree and vegetative debris will not be accepted, but the Compost Facility will be open on the 15th. Hazardous wastes will also not be accepted at this site, but a special drop-off will also be held on the 15th at the Wastewater Treatment Plant from 8 am-11 am at 1101 Woodland Street. This event was not able to be held in 2020, at first due to the pandemic, and then due to the derecho. 'We know that lots of people probably have garages or basements full of stuff for the last year, and we want to provide a free way for people to get rid of those items,' stated Jessica Kinser, City Administrator. 'This event has been a great way to help people out and save a trip to the landfill.' The cost of the event is paid for through the landfill fees billed to each utility customer.
