This year marks the 15th annual Marshalltown Area United Way Power of the Purse and will be held on October 10 from 6:00pm-9:30pm at the Midnight Garden, 1501 S. 17th Avenue, Marshalltown. The evening, featuring sparkling beverages and hors d’oeuvres, raises funds and awareness for our 27 partner agencies in Marshall County. General admission is $60 per person and a reserved table of 8 is $550. Tickets are available on the website or at the MAUW office.

Hellberg's Jewelers has generously donated a beautiful 14K gold pendant with 1/4 carat diamond valued at $1,250 to be raffled for the event. Tickets are available now, and the winner will be drawn at the close of the evening on October 10. People are invited to stop by Hellberg's to see the pendant in person and purchase tickets. One raffle ticket is $10 or purchase 5 tickets and get a 6th free raffle ticket. All proceeds benefit the Marshalltown Area United Way's Power of the Purse event and closer to the $50,000 needed to take MAUW Board Member and KFJB News Director Zach Tomesch up on the offer to shave his head. The winner will be drawn at the end of the event on October 10, need not be present to win. Raffle tickets can also be purchased at the MAUW office or website.

The Marshalltown Area United Way Power of the Purse Committee is also seeking individuals and organizations for sponsorships and donation of purses or other in-kind items to fill purses for the live and silent auctions at the annual Power of the Purse Event.

Sponsors will receive social media, print, and radio recognition, in addition to benefits at each level. Platinum sponsors at $2,000 will have their standalone logo projected full screen at the venue, a table for 8, and 2 Wine Pulls/Corking Fees. Diamond sponsors at $1000 will have their logo projected at the venue and 1 Wine Pull & Corking Fee. Gold sponsors at $500 will have their logo projected at the venue.

Donations needed include new purses, new jewelry, gift certificates for products or services from your place of business, or similar items. Donations must be received by September 27th to be included in the auction catalog.

Our goal this year is to continue the growth trend of attendees and auction sales, which will support the 2024-2025 annual campaign goal of $900,000. All proceeds benefit the 27 partner agencies and 30 programs for the 13,000 individuals served in Marshall County.
