After years of planning and patience, the renovation of the Veterans Memorial Coliseum is finally complete, and the public is invited to an open house from 12 to 6pm on Monday, March 15th.  People can take a self-guided tour or have a staff member take them on a tour and learn more about the changes and updates to this 92-year old facility.  Masks will be required and social distancing is recommended.

Planning for a renovation started in 2017 when GTG Architects was hired to do a study which provided a future vision for the building.  The City then started planning for this renovation when the July 2018 tornado tore away the roof and caused water damage.  The Coliseum received emergency repairs, while the plans for a renovation kicked into high gear.  The $4 million plus project started fundraising in March 2019, hitting the $1.35 million goal in March 2020.  Garling Construction used all of 2020 to complete the renovation.  The City took possession of the building in January 2021 and has had limited programming available since.
