This position has the responsibility to provide support services for individuals with disabilities served in integrated settings. Other duties will include assisting in providing services within the supported employment program.
List of Job Duties:
1. Provide direct services. The Job Coach will provide one-on-one training tailored to the needs of the employee and the employer’s expectations.
2. Provide written documentation of services provided according to MIW policies and procedures.
3. The Job Coach will use a plan that will train the employee to work more and more on his/her own until completely self-sufficient and able to perform job duties accurately and effectively without assistance. Assist with Supported Employment service plan implementation, including providing support interventions to assist in desired outcome achievement.
4. Serve as a member of the Strategies Committee - includes meeting with MIW staff on a scheduled or as needed basis to discuss and implement strategies aimed at improving Supported Employment individual employee performance.
5. Provide input to Supported Employment staff for service plan development.
6. Provide personal and work-related support to Supported Employment participants who need assistance with work related or personal problems.
7. Serve on interest groups and assigned teams to help carry out MIW's Mission Statement and Focus on Success.
8. Special projects assigned by the Services Manager.
Required Experience and/or Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. AA degree or high school diploma or equivalent and 6-months of relevant experience
2. There will be several required trainings to be a long-term job coach. The applicant will have to have the ability to participate and successfully complete the required trainings.
3. Ability to follow instructions and communicate well...both in writing and orally.
4. Ability to organize data and manage time effectively.
5. Ability to work well with others.
6. Self-directed.
7. Employees are prohibited from using or being under the influence of alcohol and/or illegal drugs at the workplace.
8. Must not have been convicted of a crime involving
sexual or physical abuse.
9. Must be physically able to see, hear, walk, stand, reach, lift, bend, etc. to teach and demonstrate job performance.
10. Willing to provide follow up outside of normal work hours as needed.
11. Maintain a valid Iowa driver’s license and a private automobile to carry out job duties. Carry adequate automobile liability insurance as required by law.
