Dr. Shana Stuart will present her talk titled  Andrew Carnegie's Riches in Iowa: The Marshalltown Public Library at the Marshalltown Public Library on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 2:00pm in the library's Community Meeting Rooms. 

This presentation will explore how Marshalltown came to be the site of a library that was funded by Andrew Carnegie, as well as how Marshalltown fits in to the bigger picture of Carnegie's funding for libraries throughout the state. 

Dr. Stuart is a professor of Library and Information Studies at the University of Iowa and has served as the Director of the Carnegie Libraries in Iowa project since 2004. The Carnegie Libraries in Iowa project (CLIP) works to collect and preserve documentation related to the building of Carnegie libraries throughout the state of Iowa. The information has been collected, digitized, and made available on the CLIP website. 

This year is the 125th anniversary of public library service in Marshalltown.
