32nd Holiday Stroll Volunteer

Marshalltown Central Business District

The 32nd Annual Holiday Stroll is just around the corner, and we are looking for dedicated volunteers to help bring this magical event to life on Saturday, November 23rd. This community tradition is a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season, and we couldn’t do it without the support of volunteers like you!

We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available to suit different interests and abilities. See below for a breakdown of each role:

1. Road Block Set-Up (8:30 AM – 11:00 AM):
Road block teams will set up roadblocks on side streets and along Main Street, set out extra trash bins, check barriers on Church St, Center St, and 1st St, and place orange cones for the Carriage Ride Lane. This team will also set up directional poles and V Board signs for the event.

2. Event Security (Shifts between 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM):
Keep our event safe by ensuring no vehicles enter restricted areas. Volunteers will work in pairs at intersections and be provided with hi-vis vests. Please dress warmly as this position is outdoors.

3. Parade Staff (2:30 PM – 4:30 PM):
Assist with parade line-up and place additional barricades on 3rd Ave and 4th Ave to keep Main Street clear. Ensure cars stay out of the line-up area.

4. Event Tear Down (4:30 PM – 6:00 PM):
After the event, help collect barricades, cones, trash cans, picnic tables, and directional signage. Items will be returned to designated collection points and locations.

5. Ticket Sales at the Coliseum for Tree Festival and Christmas Craft Village (10:00 AM – 3:00 PM):
Assist with ticket sales and hand-stamping for visitors. Volunteers will collect admission ($3 for adults 18+, $1 for kids 12+, with free entry for kids 11 and under, and Veterans). You will also hand out voting tickets for the Festival of Trees.

To sign up, please use this Google Sheets link. Be sure to add your name to your chosen shift and include your contact information on the Contact Info tab at the bottom of the sheet. We’ll reach out the week of the event to confirm your shift and send any additional information you’ll need.

Feel free to share this email with anyone who might be interested in volunteering as well. The more helping hands, the better!

Thank you for helping make this year’s Holiday Stroll a safe, enjoyable, and festive event for all. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
